RUACH ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the RUACH mobile application ("App"). By using RUACH, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
We collect the following types of information:
We use the information we collect to:
RUACH gives you full control over what others can see on your profile:
RUACH uses Anthropic's Claude AI to power Historical Info, Modern Context, and Bible Chat features.
What we send to Anthropic: When you use an AI feature, the Bible passage you are reading and your typed question are transmitted to Anthropic's servers to generate a response. This transmission happens in real time and is not stored by RUACH.
What we do NOT store: The content of your AI conversations — your questions and the AI's responses — are not stored in our database.
What we DO track: We store a numeric count of how many AI calls your account has made, used to enforce usage limits.
Anthropic's Privacy Policy: Your AI interactions are also subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy, available at anthropic.com/privacy.
RUACH offers an optional contact sync feature to help you find friends who are also on RUACH.
RUACH allows users to post prayer requests and encouragements anonymously. When you choose to post anonymously, your name and profile photo are hidden from all other users. For moderation and safety purposes, we internally retain a record of the original author's user ID. Your identity will never be revealed to other users for anonymous posts.
Church profiles are public by default. Church admins can post announcements, sermons, and events visible to subscribers. Subscriber lists are visible only to church admins.
When you subscribe to a church, you can control notification preferences per church. Turning off notifications for a church prevents church post notifications from appearing in your bell — this preference is stored in our database.
EIN numbers provided during church signup are used solely for 501(c)3 verification and are never displayed on public church profiles.
Prayer groups are private by design. Only users who have been given your group's unique invite code can join and view the group's messages. Group messages, member lists, and group names are stored in our database and are accessible only to current group members.
RUACH sends in-app bell notifications for:
You can dismiss notifications permanently. Dismissed notifications are stored locally on your device and will not reappear after logging out and back in.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only with:
You can delete your account at any time directly within the App:
Profile → Settings → Account → Delete Account
Deleting your account will immediately remove all locally stored data from your device and permanently delete all server-side data including bookmarks, notes, prayer history, streak history, and settings. Server-side data (profile, prayer posts, group memberships, notifications, church subscriptions) will be permanently deleted from our servers.
You may also request account deletion by emailing ruachbibleapp@gmail.com.
Important: Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription. You must cancel your subscription separately through iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which employs industry-standard encryption and row-level security policies ensuring users can only access their own data. Passwords are never stored in plain text. Phone numbers are stored only as one-way hashed codes. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Data stored server-side includes bookmarks, notes, reading streak, prayer history, and account preferences — this allows your data to sync seamlessly across all your devices.
You have the right to:
California Residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information.
EU/EEA Residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at ruachbibleapp@gmail.com.
RUACH is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users between 13 and 17 must have parental consent to use the App. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at ruachbibleapp@gmail.com and we will delete it promptly.
Prayer requests and encouragements you post publicly are visible to other RUACH users based on your privacy settings. You are responsible for the content you post. RUACH reserves the right to remove content that violates our Community Guidelines. Content that receives 3 or more reports will be automatically hidden pending review. Prayer requests automatically expire after 7 days — however your achievement counts for posting prayers are permanent and never decrease.
RUACH offers optional premium subscriptions processed through Apple's App Store. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. We store your subscription status in our database to enforce feature access. We do not store your payment card information — all billing is handled by Apple.
All church donation transactions are processed by Stripe. RUACH does not store credit card numbers or bank account information. Churches must provide a valid EIN number to receive donations through the App. Note that church donations processed through Stripe are separate from Apple In-App Purchases and are not subject to Apple's payment policies.
RUACH includes an offline mode that allows Bible reading to function without an internet connection. In offline mode, no data is transmitted to our servers or third-party services. AI features, prayer wall, community features, and giving features are disabled in offline mode. Bookmarks and notes created while offline will sync to our servers when your connection is restored.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page and through a notice in the App. Continued use of RUACH after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
